Hello lovely souls,
As the days grow longer and the sun warms our faces, we approach the vibrant festival of Beltane. It can be celebrated on May 1st but this year the actual date according to the moon cycle is 5th May so you haven’t missed it! This ancient fire festival marks the peak of spring, a time of fertility, growth, passion, and joy.
What is Beltane?
Beltane, also known as Beltaine or Cetsamhain (in Gaelic), is a pagan holiday with roots in Celtic traditions. It celebrates the union of the Divine Feminine (the Earth) and the Divine Masculine (the Sun), symbolising fertility, abundance, and new beginnings. Bonfires were traditionally lit to represent the sun's life-giving energy, and communities would gather to sing, dance, and celebrate the season's bounty.

How to Celebrate Beltane:
Light a bonfire or create a symbolic fire using candles or a small bowl. Reflect on any negativity you wish to release and visualise your intentions for abundance and growth.
Decorate with vibrant colours and flowers. Beltane is a celebration of life and joy! Adorn your space or alter with fresh flowers, greenery, and colours that represent the season's vibrancy. Carnations and tulips are a favourite of mine.
Dance and sing! Beltane is a time for letting loose and expressing your joy. Create a playlist with uplifting music and move your body freely.
Prepare a feast. Celebrate the fertility of the land with a delicious meal featuring fresh seasonal produce, support local businesses in your area, can you create a meal using all local ingredients?
Plant seeds for the future. This is a potent time to plant seeds in your garden or start new projects.
Connect with nature. Go for a walk in the park, visit a local garden, or simply spend time outdoors appreciating the beauty of spring. A lovely activity to do with little ones is to look for signs of spring.
Bonus Tip: Consider incorporating crystals such as carnelian (for passion and creativity), citrine (for abundance and prosperity), or green aventurine (for growth and new beginnings) into your rituals or altar.
Wishing you many Beltane blessings!
Fran 💚✨
